New Planning Commission (3 yr. appointed* terms) *Planning Enabling Act PA 33 of 2008
The Supervisor has the authority to appoint these nominees, but the Town board has the authority to approve
or reject any of the nominees brought before them. The board has this full authority, not the Supervisor.
If the board does not want a nominee presented to them by the Supervisor, they simply vote NO.
If a nominee is rejected the Supervisor nominates another. The Supervisor is only 1 of 7 votes.

Dorr Township Employees ( hired positions/appointment jobs)
*Don Kaczanowski, the previous supervisor for the last 29 years,
stayed on as a Certified Assessor as an employee after the Nov. General election of 2008
(The Supervisor is by virtue of their elected office the Chief Assessor, the employee assessor is sub-ordinate to the Elected Supervisor, however only a certified assessor may sign the assessment roll.)
These positions are filled by a majority affirmative vote of the town board for all township employees.
The township board hires and terminates township employee positions by majority vote, not the Supervisor alone.
Again, the Supervisor is only 1 of 7 votes needed to get to a majority. The Supervisors sole power is very limited in most aspects of local government, which is the way it was set up to be. The POWER lies in the BOARD of 7. If a quorum is present
(a quorum is at least 4 board members) business can be conducted and the majority would be 3.
A quorum cannot gather and conduct business without public notice given, so the people know
when government business is taking place under the open meetings act. We are keeping our eyes on this too.
