2 brothers-in-law and 1 nephew all now sit on the Dorr DDA board? Is this what Dorr Township wants?

Just to keep everyone informed, our Supervisor, Don Kaczanowski appointed William Fifelski Jr. to the DDA board [Downtown Development Authority] at the town board meeting on Thursday, Aug.21st. I personally asked this board to seriously consider appointing someone who is not related to the other current DDA board members, before they took their vote tonight, and I also mentioned this to the full board right after they interviewed these candidates on Monday! 6 candidates were interviewed on Monday afternoon, Aug. 18th. at a Special meeting called by the Supervisor, many qualified citizens who are not related to any of the current board members, including Seth Leyendecker who is the New Branch Manager for Byron Bank, (Seth has been sitting on the DDA board as a fill in for Jack Adamczyk until this appointment) Thomas Powell II, who is the owner of Enzas Pizza a business man in the Downtown for over 35 yrs. and Manju Maruliah a citizen who has a background in township planning and is also a contracted Architect. The others who were interviewed are William Fifelski Jr., partner of Dorr Marathon- Nephew of Norm Fifelski and Mark DeYoung who currently sit on the DDA, Valerie Lam, niece of Norm Fifelski and Step daughter of Mark DeYoung, and last but not least……………………

Bob Wagner, a developer and businessman who currently sits on both the Planning Commission since 1965 and Zoning board of Appeals since 1975? I would say any one who has been on these boards for this long, has well served their time well, and its time for new ideas, voices and different individuals, don’t you agree?  Well, as Dorr tradition continues, we the Dorr Towns people not only have Norm Fifelski and Mark DeYoung who currently sit on this Authority board who are Brothers-in-Law, they just added to this mix last night William Fifelski Jr. who is Norm Fifelski and Mark DeYoungs nephew! When is this town going to wake up to all this? I personally went to the Special Meeting called by Mr. Kaczanowski to interview each of the 6 candidates who wanted to sit on this board, I sat and listened for over 2 hours to all the interviews, and we had many who were very impressive who have no relatives on the DDA board, so knowing all these past appointments with relatives, I specifically requested that the townboard select someone who is NOT RELATED. Like speaking on deaf ears I guess! The board is elected to make these decisions, not me, but I dont think this is the best decision in my humble opinion. We want citizens from a wide variety of backgrounds, not one families perspective of what this town should be like. This town board does whatever they want and the Dorr Township people know nothing of what is going on or they obviously think this is acceptable. I do not find this acceptable. When will this ever STOP? This town has been run like this for over 50 years! It is time to put an end to all this nonsense. Here are the boards roll call votes for last nights appointment for William Fifelski Jr.: Don Kacznawski-YES Jodi Brummel-YES Janice Saunders-NO Larry Dolegowski-YES Tammy VanHaitsma-YES Don Van Dorp-NO Paul Davis-YES Thank you for reading this, now you have the story! Please go to my www.DorrTownship.net website and help me with my video project if this is something you want to help me with. If I do not find enough interest in this project, I will take this as the towns people do not care, and I will drop the project. If you find this project as something beneficial to you, that you can get behind and help me with financially, please let your family and friends know about this video project by sending them a link to this website, so I can keep the public informed on what their local government is doing. If we don’t keep them accountable to us the people, who will? Sincerely, Bernard Schumaker
