Patty Senneker and members of “READ” (Restoring Ethics And Democracy to Dorr township government) have collected a total of over 6000 signatures for all 7 Dorr Township board members and will hand deliver them on Monday, January 25 to the Allegan County Clerks office to validate each signature to make sure they are all legal qualified voter signatures of Dorr Township.
Patty Senneker said that should not be a problem, because we collected signatures from those who were on the QVF (qualified voter file) which we got directly from the County Clerks office 3 months ago. So if those signatures are not valid, then we will have to question why the signatures from files (QVF) we received from the county clerks office are not accurate. We have every confidence that this will not happen.
We have had much community support for our recall petitions after residents hear and read about how this board took away our petition rights to stop this multi million dollar sewer project, how the board violates the open meetings act by meeting in the township offices in a quorum prior to every board meeting, reading about $100,000 being paid to a former board member for leaf composting until we brought this to the public spot light, seeing videos about $125,000 being paid for 18 acres of swamp land to our current assessors in-laws until we brought this to light, seeing videos and reading newspaper articles about the current Dorr Township Planning board commissioner who was caught by the Allegan county health dept. and the State DEQ just this October, 2009 for violating the Michigan Environmental Protection Act for having an unauthorized and un-permitted sewage holding tank on his business property at Dorr Septic service with no consequences to his actions, and knowing for years how bids are given to another board members brother without a fair and honest bidding process that is open and transparent, yet still all these board members do nothing or even think this is unethical and protect their own who are all part of the “good ole boys” club.
We are tired of business as usual in this township, we are outraged that this current board overrode the people who legally petitioned to stop this million dollar sewer project twice, but instead hired a high paid attorney, using over $32,000 of our money to work around the public improvement act to get this project done after we the people said NO not once, but twice! Why do they not listen? Simple. They are arrogant politicians who think we the people are their subjects. They have forgotten who they work for.
We are committed to restoring Ethics and Democracy where everything is open and transparent, where all citizens are represented and all the laws are followed by everyone in the township, including and especially those who are elected to office. We believe that NO ONE is above the law. We believe that those who are given the peoples trust by our votes, MUST be the example for us to follow. When they break or violate the laws they enact and get away with it but we must follow “their” laws, something is not right. This is corruption and it must be snuffed out!
This has permeated our government from top to bottom, from Washington down through all the different levels of government and we the people MUST stand strong against them and take our government back. And that is exactly what I and other “READ” members intend to do. Stay tuned, I am not finished!
Patty
