Kentwood  sewer rates will rise

Muskegon  sewer rates will rise

This is what will happen for all eternity once that sewer project is installed under 142nd Ave in Dorr.  The cost will continue to increase over the years for the operation of this utility even though businesses and residents can put in a septic and drain field that will last them 20-25 for less than the cost of the quarterly fee alone that they will be charged over their lifetime. That does not even factor in the outrageous cost the businesses and residents would have to finance over the course of 40 years just for the cost of constructing the main trunk that they will be charged who will eventually will have to hook up to this unnecessary and unwanted sewer utility, under the State and county health code.  Right now the anticipated quarterly fee for the Dorr sewer project is $88 per REU so for a residence, their cost today would be $88 x 4 =$352 per year for a total of $3520 over ten years.  A septic system last about 20-25 years so you could literally put in a NEW septic system every 10 years for the cost you would pay just for the usage fees and have a brand new system every ten years, and that is based on the usage fee of $88 right now, at todays fee rates, but as you can see from the 2 articles above, that this will continue to increase forever for the cost of maintaining this public utility which the majority of businesses and residents said they did not want or need and petitioned down twice.  Who knows what the rates will be in 10 years? 17% – 25% increases?  The people have said adamantly, we DON’T WANT IT!

For businesses the REU (resident equivalent unit) could be even more as is the case for Dorr BP.  See what Greg & Rick have to say about this unneeded sewer project.  CLICK HERE
